Valerie Buddle is a fresh and dynamic Montreal-based choreographer. She is profoundly inspired by the emotional journey of the personal experience and is deeply committed to giving it physical expression. She has presented her work at the St. Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival (2004 & 2005), the fFIDA International Dance Festival (2003-2005), and the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival (2008). Critics have described her work as “feminist chic” and “funny and refreshing.”
Ms Buddle has a strong technical background and has trained in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. In 1997 she completed the Royal Academy of Dancing examination at the Intermediate level. Ms Buddle majored in contemporary dance, with a focus on choreography and the creative process, at Concordia University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts which included a minor in theatre production.
Ms Buddle’s most recent choreographic credits include Today I Spent A Lonely Afternoon… (2003), It Can’t Happen Here (Sexual Misadventures) (2004), …and on and on and on and on… (2005), and The Uncertainty Project (2008). She is a member of the Regroupement Quebecois de la Danse and the English Language Arts Network.
